Chile Pequin Ristra

The original purpose of stringing and hanging the chile was to allow fresh chiles to dry so they could be ground and used as seasoning throughout the year. According to legend, a ristra hung outside your front door keeps out devils and brings good luck. These small ristras are approximately 6 inches and made from the chile pequin peppers. They last about 2-3 years, unless of course they are used for cooking. They are available with or without preservative coating. The coated ones are not to be used for food.
